An important note: in looking at the map below you will notice that all of the communities are in the ‘white’ areas of the map. That is because here in Western Montana, ONLY ABOUT 10% OF THE LAND IS AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE OWNWRSHIP,  and the ‘white’ area on the map is the private land. The vast majority of the land (about 90%) is National Forest Service Land. It is there for our pleasure and use, but not for private ownership.
